OJ Simpson 'contemplated suicide in Kim Kardashian's bedroom', author claims

An author has claimed OJ Simpson once threatened to kill himself in Kim Kardashian's childhood bedroom. It has been 20 years since Simpson was acquitted of murdering ex-wife Nicole Brown Simpson and her friend Ronald Goldman.

Lawrence Schiller's book, American Tragedy: The Uncensored Story of the OJ Simpson Defence, claims to reveal new information about the NFL player and the moments leading up the infamous Bronco freeway chase.

Lawrence claimed Simpson considered taking his own life while staying with his friend and attorney Robert Kardashian, Kim's father.

In an interview with ABC News' 20/20, Lawrence claims he obtained a recording that reveals what is believed to be a suicide tape, recorded in Kim's bedroom.

The recording alleges Simpson as saying: "I'm going to kill myself in this room," before Robert replies: "You can't. This is my daughter's bedroom.

"My little girl Kim sleeps here. I can't have my little girl in this bedroom, and every time I come in here, I'm going to see your body lying in this. You can't do that.'"

Simpson was acquitted of murdering Miss Simpson and her friend Ron Goldman in a criminal trial in 1995.

However, a year later, he lost a civil wrongful death lawsuit brought by Mr Goldman’s family, resulting in him paying £21million in compensation. He is currently serving a jail sentence of up to 33 years for armed robbery.

In a new documentary Kim's mum Kris Jenner, who was divorced from Robert in 1991, says she she still feels guilty over the death of her friend Nicole Brown Simpson.

"At the end of Nicole's life, I think she finally was at a place where she knew she had to be more vocal with what was going on and she was in trouble,” Kris says in The Secret Tapes of The O.J. Case: The Untold Story.

She continues: "I will always feel guilty that I didn't pay more attention and didn't speak up when I thought anything was wrong or asked her more, 'Do you want to talk about it?'"
