Snakes invade communities

Snakes have invaded Kanke and Kanam communities of Plateau State and over 50 people had been bitten.

The snakes were said to have been washed on shore after a flood in the areas. Member representing Pankshin, Kanke and Kanam Federal Constituency in the National Assembly Hon. Timothy Golu, said that out of the 50 people bitten by the snakes, some had died, while others are in critical condition.

Golu said: “Some had been treated and discharged, but a woman at my place, who has been treated and discharged, still has pus gushing out from the bitten spot. We have advised her to return to the hospital for fresh checks. We have the fear that something worse may result from the wound if not properly treated because she is already limping.”

The Lawmaker described the situation as scary, adding that the snakes now openly crawled about and are often in pairs.
