The organised labour in Ogun State has asked Governor Ibikunle Amosun to drop various charges on certificate verification, submission of additional qualifications and inter-cadre transfer by workers in the state.
It said the various charges from N7,500 and above constitute an open invitation for officers to engage in corrupt practices and must be stopped outright.
This was contained in a letter dated March 31 and addressed to the governor, which was signed by the chairman of Joint National Public Service Negotiating Council (JNC), Abiodun Olakanmi; secretary of JNC, Olusegun Adebiyi; and state chairmen of Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) and Trade Union Congress (TUC), Akeem Ambali, and Olubunmi Fajobi.
The workers made the demand just as the state government declared that effective from the end of April 2016, salaries of public and civil servants in the state will be paid based on the Bank Verification Number (BVN) system.
In its letter, the organised labour said inasmuch as it was not opposed to certificate verification, the charges for the exercise were “too high.”
