''Give Buhari A Pass Mark”- Atiku Tells Nigerians
Former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar has urged Nigerians to give President Muhammadu Buhari a “pass mark” for his efforts in the first year of his administration.
He made the call on Tuesday in Abuja at the launch of a book titled “We Are All Biafrans” written by Chido Onumah.
Atiku, who was chairman at the occasion, noted of the five areas the Buhari administration pledged to face, he has accomplished two and should be encouraged.
“He promised to look into issues like power, insurgency, unemployment, corruption and diversification and if you are to take two out of five, you can give him a pass mark.“He has dealt with corruption and with Boko Haram. For power, give him time,’’ he said.

I Was Queried By Obasanjo For Suggesting Privatisation Of NNPC – Atiku.
Former Vice President, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar Tuesday reviewed his stewardship with former President Olusegun Obasanjo, stating that he was queried by Obasanjo, his boss then, for suggesting the privatisation of the Nigeria National Petroleum Corporation (NPPC).
Abubakar, who spoke at a book presentation, titled; “We are all Biafrans” written by Chido Onuma, stated that idea of setting up a North East Development Commission (NEDC) as being proposed by the present administration was not necessary.
According to him, the situations in the North East and Niger Delta are not the same even though the North East deserves national and international attention.
Abubakar, who spoke as the chairman of the book launch, revealed that he advised against the policy of gas to power plants as a means to increase power generation, because he believed they would not work given the high level of vandalism.
He said: “President Obasanjo refused to listen to me on gas to power plants. With gas to power plant, you will not get electricity and we have been trying it since 2002, we have not got there and we will never get there.”
According to him, he advised the President on investment in hydro electricity in order to increase power to the national grid.”
Speaking on the Niger Delta issue, he stated that his administration as a Vice President invested in the Niger Delta, but that the Niger Delta Ministry was his campaign idea in 2007 when he lost the presidency to late President Umar Yar’Adua.
Abubakar explained that why the Niger Delta Ministry has not yield much improvement in the area was as a result of where it is sited. According to him, it would have been sited in the Niger Delta area.
He, however, explained that this could not be so because the founder of Niger Delta Ministry, late President Yar’Adua was not prepared to become President.

Atiku Sets Up Livestock Feed Factory To Address Herdsmen/Farmers Clash
Former Vice President, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar yesterday in Abuja laid the foundation stone of a livestock feed factory that would address the clashes between the Fulani herdsmen and farmers all over the country. According to him, the factory, Rico Gado Nutrition Limited, located at the Idu Industrial area in Abuja has the capacity to turn out 50 tonnes per hour of animal feed and which will feed about 90 million cows when completed in 32 weeks.
“We agreed that, if we wanted to succeed, we would have to offer our customers the best possible product at the best possible price, in the quickest possible time. And because we want farming to once more, become profitable. “We are contributing to job creation, technology transfer and progressive change in farming culture. We believe there is a future in farming.
We went against the usual way of doing business in Nigeria because we did not just want to build a factory; we wanted to build a value chain. “We wanted to ensure that the bulk of the value added stayed with the farmers who do the hard work of growing the grains and seeds we buy, process, and market. We want more people to engage in and profit from the cultivation of the seeds and grains we buy and process, and to have a long-term perspective on farming.
“It is in its early days, but I think we’re on the right track. I’m very proud of Rico Gado Nutrition Nigeria’s first plant and the agricultural cluster that is growing along its supply lines and that extends well beyond Adamawa state.
“I’m immensely pleased that, today, we are gathered here in Abuja to break ground for our second, even bigger plant, which will create an even longer value chain. This plant, on this five hectare land in Idu Industrial Layout, is expected to be completed in 32 weeks.
It will initially have an installed capacity of 50 tonnes per hour and will enable us serve a wider market as we prepare to build another plant in a third location soon. “Despite the doubts about our economy because of current challenges, we are confident about Nigeria’s future and about our future.
I think I speak for my partners in this joint venture when I say: We know what we are getting into, and we’re doing it because we believe in Nigeria, because we believe that Nigeria will overcome its current difficulties, we believe our nation will change for the better. “We break ground today because we know we can complete this plant on time and on budget; and because we can count on our management team and on our construction crew, because we know we can trust each other, and because we know we have the experience and the expertise to work around the obstacles we will face”.
In his opening remarks, the Chairman, Board of Directors of the company, Alhaji Abubakar Ahmed Song, disclosed that the company established in partnership with some Portuguese investors, have the potential to change the face of livestock production in Nigeria.

Buhari Alone Can’t Turn Around Nigeria’s Fortunes – Atiku
A former Vice-President of Nigeria, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, on Sunday, said President Muhammadu Buhari alone could not turn around Nigeria’s fortunes.
He said this in his May Day message to Nigerian workers, contained in a statement by his Media Office.
Atiku said in view of the challenges that the country and its people were facing, it would take the support of everyone working in tandem with the Buhari administration to lift the economy out of the doldrums.
Atiku added, “President Buhari alone cannot turn around the fortunes of the country.
“It requires everyone – elected and appointed officials, the legislature and the judiciary, the public and private sectors and ordinary Nigerians – working together in faith and commitment to bring about the desired change.
“With dwindling revenue from oil, it has become imperative for us to bake a bigger cake that will be big enough for all partakers. To achieve this, we need to be more creative as a government and more productive as a people.
“We all need to make sacrifices in line with the realities of the time. It is not enough to ask workers to make sacrifices while public office holders are ostensibly immune to it. Such a situation promotes industrial disharmony.”
He reminded workers that the envisaged better deal for them was intrinsically tied to increased productivity.

Kalu, Atiku, Tinubu, Amosun, Ambode Mourn
Former governor of Abia State, Dr. Orji Kalu, has described the late Braithwaite as a patriotic Nigerian, whose contributions to the social and political advancement of the country would be remembered by Nigerians for years to come. In a statement signed by his Special Adviser, Kunle Oyewumi, Kalu said: “The passing of Dr. Tunji Braithwaite is painful as he died at a time the country needed his counsel on national issues. “He was an outstanding statesman by all standards.
He demonstrated selflessness and forthrightness in his legal and political endeavours.” National Leader of the All Progressives Congress, Senator Bola Tinubu said: “ His death has left a vacuum in the political firmament of Nigeria. But though dead, he lives behind a robust political legacy and his vibrant intellectual contributions to the polity will remain relevant for a long time to come.
“He was a staunch advocate of a united and progressive Nigeria.”
Also, former Vice President Atiku Abubakar described him as a man who was consistent in the pursuit of his convictions. He said that his death has robbed the country of one of its greatest giants not only in the field of law, but also in politics. Atiku, in a statement by his media office in Abuja yesterday said he particularly admired the late Braithwaite because of his unwavering commitment to constitutional reforms, especially his agitation for restructuring of the country. Similarly, Ogun State Governor, Senator Ibikunle Amosun, described as “a great loss,” the death of Dr. Tunji Braithwaite. Amosun said: “He will be remembered, not just for his contributions to the legal profession, but also to the development of democratic ethos in Nigeria.”
In his tribute, Lagos State Governor, Mr. Akinwunmi Ambode, expressed shock and sadness over the demise of Braithwaite. In a statement signed by his Chief Press Secretary, Mr. Habib Aruna, Ambode said Braithwaite’s demise was a great loss to both the state and the nation.

Atiku, Mark, Oritsejafor Preach Sacrifice, Religious Tolerance At Easter
Former Vice President and chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Atiku Abubakar has urged Nigerians to be strong amidst the current difficulties confronting the country.
He predicted that better days would soon come as there was hardly any testimony without a test and a crown without a cross. In an Easter message released in Abuja by the Atiku Media Office, the Turaki Adamawa said that the message of Jesus Christ’s death and resurrection was a perfect analogy for the current situation in Nigeria.
“The significance of the celebration of Easter, demonstrates that there is never an indomitable situation that hope, good team-spirit and hard work cannot overcome.” The former Vice President also urged his compatriots not to lose hope, particularly as the ruling APC government continued to work assiduously in finding long term solutions to the country’s hydra-headed problems.
“Things may seem rough and tough today, but it is only for a while. Nigeria will surely rise again in line with the spirit and tenets of Easter.”
The Turaki Adamawa urges Nigerian leaders at all levels to emulate the great sacrifice that was the life of Jesus Christ, by working to ensure that they do everything within their powers to lift majority of Nigerians out of poverty into prosperity.
Similarly, a former President of the Senate, Senator David Mark has canvassed for a peaceful, harmonious and united Nigeria where brotherly love reigns amongst the citizens.
In his goodwill message to Nigerians marking this year’s Easter celebrations, he said that virtues such as religious tolerance and good neighbourliness were strategic for peaceful coexistence and meaningful development. Mark urged Nigerians to respect the sanctity of the constitution which prescribes freedom of worship in which every citizen can uphold and practice his or her chosen faith any where without molestation .
He implored clergymen to inculcate in their followers the time-tested virtues of our faith anchored on love, sacrifice , forgiveness and good neighbourliness which the Lord Jesus Christ symbolizes.
He enjoined Christian National President, Christian Association Of Nigeria (CAN), Pastor Ayo Oritsejafor has also felicitated with all Nigerians on the occasion of the Easter celebrations, describing it as another opportunity to reflect on the lessons of the season.Easter, Oritsejafor said, was the climax of the Lenten season, was meant to remind Christians of God’s power over everything that he created including death.
“Nigerians, particularly Christians from different denominations must work in line with the teachings of Easter which focuses primarily on penance, forgiveness, sacrifice and the demonstration of unconditional love for one another.
“As Nigeria strives to contain the menace of insurgency and social injustice which has displaced many, Christians are enjoined to offer prayers for the poor and the abandoned in this special period of Easter.
Christians must also respond to evil with good as exemplified in the life of Christ which is summarized in the story of Easter,” he said. The cleric urged Nigerians to remember to lend some help to thousands of Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) scattered across the country and remain committed to the service of their fatherland and the cause of humanity.
