Samson Siasia To NFF- Pay Me Every Kobo I'm Owed, I've Really Endured

The Nigeria Football Federation officials have stated that they are not expecting any letter of resignation from the national U23 coach, Samson Siasia, as his contract ended with the Rio Olympics.

Speaking to Punch ,Siasia on Sunday corroborated the NFF statement of his contract having ended but demanded that his outstanding salary be paid him. He said,

“This is not really resignation; my contract was arranged to end with the Olympics. And so the contract has ended.
“What is very important is that I get every kobo that I am owed. I need the money now than ever and I believe I have really endured and I have been cooperative.”
The coach who just won the Olympic bronze in Rio this month did not however completely deny the resignation story that made the headlines by the weekend.
“I spoke with a reporter but I guess the one who are referring to was extracted from the interview I granted somebody else. What I was asked was my entire story at the Olympics and this included Atlanta camping.
“Of course a lot of things happened that I can’t be really happy about especially the way the team was portrayed. But that is over as my contract has also actually ended. What is left now is my cash and that is very, very important,” he said.
Siasia and his friends are hoping that the FA should be able to sort out his bills quickly as they have been able to appoint a new coach from Germany for the Eagles.
An official of the federation who spoke to Punch said they treated the coach and his players as best as they could under the situation they found themselves.
“But if you are asking about getting any letter, we have not received any and we don’t expect any. The usual deal is with the All Africa Games and then running through the Olympics and that is what he has completed. There is no immediate U23 competition and so he couldn’t have continued,” he said.

Former PSG player and French football manager who previously managed the Oman national football team, have been given the green light to be the new coach of the Super Eagles of Nigeria.

According to an authoritative report by Punch Newspaper, the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) officials have settled for Frenchman, Paul Le Guen as the next Super Eagles coach.

Recall that we reported it here last week Friday that the country’s football governing body, NFF, released a shortlist of three coaches – Le Guen, Salisu Yusuf and Tom Saintfiet, but few days after, they have now chosen the Frenchman who will be presented to the public on July 18.

While the Super Eagles manager is being confirmed according to expectations, the position of assistant coach has taken a new turn as the NFF could seek an alternative person to work in place of Yusuf who had worked as one of the assistants to Sunday Oliseh.

It was learnt on Monday that the NFF members were already in search of a coach to work as the Nigerian assistant to Le Guen.

An NFF official said; "As it is now, the position of the deputy has been thrown open because Yusuf is still insisting that he would not work as an assistant to Le Guen. Those who worked on their entries picked the Frenchman and with the hope that Yusuf could learn a lot from him for the immediate future but he (Yusuf) appears to have some other ideas so the federation will now have to consider a new person altogether to replace Yusuf."

However, the former Kano Pillars coach, Yusuf, believes he now has enough managerial wisdom to lead the Super Eagles…

Players of the Super Eagles and other national teams will no longer be paid dollar bonus,Vanguard reports. This is part of the recommendations of the Technical Committee of the NFF at its meting in Abuja on Tuesday.

A reliable source at the meeting told Sports Vanguard that under the new regime, players will only be paid what is known as performance based bonus which will be tied to how they fared in any given championship.For instance during the qualifiers for the forthcoming Russia 2018 World Cup, Super Eagles players will no longer be paid the usual $10,000 dollars each as match bonus per match. Rather the federation will tell them how much they stand to gain if they qualify for the tournament only and only if they pick the qualification ticket. They are also to be paid in Naira for any match played at home.

“We all agree that the revenue base of the federation is dwindling by the day and if you consider the new policy of the government on foreign exchange, you must agree that there is no way we can sustain the era of paying each Super Eagles player $10,000 dollars per match and when we fail to qualify for the tournament, the federation loses everything. “Now we will be paying them based on their collective performance as a team like it is done in most other countries of the world.”
Our source further revealed that Golden Eaglets players will no longer be paid match bonuses in foreign currencies. According to our source, henceforth parents of the Eaglets will be made to sign an undertaking to attest to their real ages.


That way as minors they are not supposed to be given huge sums of money. Instead they will be paid camp allowances while their parents will collect their bonuses in Naira on their behalf.

CAF President, Issa Hayatou, on Wednesday condoled with the President of Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), Amaju Pinnick, and Nigerians on the death of former Super Eagles Coach, Stephen Keshi.

This is contained in a statement on the association’s website.

Hayatou expressed his “dismay” and “immense sadness” at the sudden death of the former Nigeria international.

He paid glowing tribute to the deceased, who emerged as the only African coach to have qualified two African teams to the World Cup – Togo in 2006 and Nigeria in 2014.

“’His other enviable record is being the only African trainer to have steered a team to the Second Round of the FIFA World Cup, with Nigeria at the 2014 FIFA World Cup in Brazil.

“He had achieved the same feat as a player with the Super Eagles at their maiden participation at the Mundial in 1994, in USA.

“’The CAF President conveyed the condolences on his own behalf, the CAF Executive Committee and African football family on the demise of Keshi, who was a jewel to his family, friends and the Nigerian football family, who are badly affected.

“This is a man, who was twice winner of the Africa Cup of Nations with Nigeria; in 1994 as captain and in 2013 as a coach, with the latter earning him the distinction of Coach of the Year at the Glo-CAF Awards,” the statement read.
