Timi Dakolo Is A Thief, He Stole My Song - Majek Fashek

In an exclusive chat with Saturday Beats, the veteran singer said Nigerian R&B singer Timi Dakolo capitalised on his state of health and remade his evergreen hit song, Send Down the Rain, without taking permission from him. Timi, in 2013, had done a remix of the song but Fashek said Timi never took permission from him before doing the song.

He said, “He broke the rules of copyright. He is a thief because in music business, he must take permission before he works on someone’s song. That is why we have COSON. I did not give anyone the right to do anything with my song. I have a management team I work with headed by Omenka Uzoma. Dakolo never bothered to look for me before stealing my song. He has infringed on the laws of copyright and he is not an original artiste. It is only people like Tuface, Wizkid, Olamide that are original.

“I felt bad when I learnt that he worked on my song without my consent. He did not even give me credit. He is a very bad artiste and he took advantage of the circumstance that I was facing during that time. The song is not a normal song; it is a spiritual hit song.

Timi Dakolo does not know how I suffered to get that song. I fasted for seven days before I got that song. I partook in three days ‘white’ fasting before the song came to me. Timi Dakolo did not go through that. I did not fight him because I do not have time. Let God judge us.” Also commenting on the situation, Majek Fashek’s music business consultant, Omenka Uzoma, said they would soon begin to fish out all those who have been exploiting Majek Fashek.

In a telephone conversation with Timi Dakolo to get his side of the story, the young lad was quick to cut short the conversation even before our correspondent could explain reasons for calling.

“I am not in the country. There is no allegation levelled against me. Go ahead and write a better story. I am not in Nigeria,” he said before he rudely ended the call, Saturday Beats claimed.

Tiwa Savage, Bovi, Banky W, Others Speak On Gender Equality Bill

On March 15, 2016, the Nigerian Senate rejected the Gender Equality Bill. The bill which was introduced by a female senator from the South West was aimed at bridging the gap between the rights of men and women in Nigeria. DGossip247 met with Mavin first lady, Tiwa Savage; EME boss, Banky W, and other top Nigerian entertainment stakeholders who bared their mind on the bill that lawmakers claimed was thrown out because of constitutional violations

Kemi Adetiba

Do you think a man and a woman should have equal right?

I think that’s a no brainer. It’s so sad that we even have to have a bill for me as a woman to have equal rights with, not necessary a man, but my fellow human being.

It’s a shame that we even have to ask that question or think of a bill to be passed in the Senate for me to be able to have

Banky W

I’m sad that in 2016 we don’t think that men and women should have equal rights. I know some people said they have some issues with the wording of it, but I don’t think that’s enough reason to put it down.

I think hopefully, they will keep coming back to that bill in the way that it should be passed because it’s very sad that in 2016, a country that claims to be the giant of Africa, which claims to be progressive, is still discussing whether men and women deserve equal rights.

It’s just sad. Well, I think the time for equal rights has come and it’s good that people are voicing out their opinion. It’s a different generation and people don’t think things and keep it to themselves anymore and that’s the only way progress can be made.

Ubi Franklyn

We are human beings and I don’t think that there are verses in the Bible where God said man and woman are not equal.

It’s just that when you are married, the man has to respect the woman and so it is for the woman. So in terms of Gender Equity, I don’t know the context from which they are coming from, but I think both sexes are equal.

A woman can rule me.

I posted something on my Instagram and a lot of women really liked it, so for me I am not against the bill.

Foluke Daramola

I’m sorry I don’t think men and women should have equal rights in this case. I think the male should have more than the female, but it should be with proportion, maybe on a ratio of 60 to 40. My reason is that women tend to be extremely domineering when it comes to issues and sometimes sentimental.

Men can be detailed, even though we are sometimes, but at the end of the day, if a woman has equal rights with the man, automatically, you are saying that the man can marry two wives and the woman can also marry two husbands.

So, there are proportions to all these things. Don’t forget that there are some positions that a man can occupy that women can’t.

The role of a man can never be over emphasised. If you are trying to equate me as the wife and my husband as the man, you will find that, there tend to be disaster in the family. Even though I’m a woman rights activist, I still believe that the man is supposed to be a step ahead of the woman, you can never take that away.

Timi Dakolo

That’s a very dense matter which I really wouldn’t want to talk about. In Africa, a woman has her place, let’s just leave it at that. In my family, the man is the man and the woman is the woman, that’s all I can say

TY Bello

Well, I think the time for equal rights has come and it’s good that people are voicing out their opinion.

It’s a different generation and people don’t think things and keep it to themselves anymore and that’s the only way progress can be made.

Bovi

To be honest, I don’t think a man and a woman deserve equal rights; I think the women deserve more rights than the men.

Genetically, men are stronger, so you need to empower the women. When you take it from Adam, men have always been favoured.

If you look at it in a way, women play a very key role in every society.

As a matter of fact, they said if you take a very good look at today, the country that has progressed in the last 30 years have empowered women.

So men and women shouldn’t have equal rights, women deserve more because men will always find their way.

Tiwa Savage

This is a very deep question and I really decline to talk about it. I have a very strong opinion about it, I really want to wait for the right avenue to talk about it, believe me. I don’t think this is the time to talk because I have a lot to say about it.

With the whole brouhaha happening with the love life of some Nigerian entertainers, one is left with no choice but to air various opinions which they feel could help salvage the situation.
