Just three days to the long awaited presidential election scheduled for March 28, the candidate of the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) President Goodluck Jonathan has gotten another endorsement from a very popular prophet in the North.
THISDAY reports that a foremost northern Christian cleric, Prophet Isa El-Buba, founder of Evangelical Bible Outreach Ministries International (EBOMI), on Monday endorsed the incumbent President for the Saturday election.
It was reported that the Middle Belt Youth Council also declared its support for President Jonathan, assuring him of massive votes in this week’s presidential election.
The council said it will vote for President Jonathan in order for him to continue with his transformation agenda that has impacted positively on the economy of the country.
The National Leader of the Middle Belt, Mr. Emmanuel Zopmal, who spoke in Jos, the Plateau State capital, commended the President’s renewed commitment in wiping out members of the terrorists group, Boko Haram.
“We the Middle Belt Youths comprising of all the youths of the ethnic nationalities that make up the belt are voting for President Goodluck Jonathan and not Gen. Muhammadu Buhari of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the forthcoming presidential election because his Fulani herdsmen have persistently killed our people, particularly in the Middle Belt states,” he said.
The national leader insisted that in the face of daunting situations, the president has achieved a lot in education, transport, youth empowerment programme, agriculture, road construction, water projects, aviation among others.
“Nigeria under Jonathan’s leadership has witnessed a profound economic growth even faster than South Africa now; within a span of five weeks, our military are able to recapture our territories in the North-east claimed by Boko Haram terrorist group. For these reasons, we want a well deserved second term re-election for him despite the propaganda by the opposition, APC,” he said.
El-Buba also used the occasion to canvass for the election of Senator Gyang Pwajok as Plateau State next Governor and Governor Jonah Jang as the Senator to represent Plateau North.
The national chairman of the Third Republic National Republican Convention (NRC), Chief Tom Ikimi, who is a former member of the All Progressives Congress (APC), but is now in the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has advised the North to wait for their turn in the presidential race.
