he South West Northern Forums, Oyo State chapter, has dismissed as false and malicious claim by the All Progressives Congress (APC) that Governor Abiola Ajimobi is renovating the Sabo Community Central Mosque.
In a statement issued by the secretary of the forum, Alhaji Bashir Lukman Maiborno and made available to newsmen in Ibadan, the present renovation works in the Mosque is being sponsored by Senator Teslim Kolawole Folarin, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) gubernatorial candidate in the state and not Governor Abiola Ajimobi as claimed in some quarters.
The secretary explained that: “what really happened was that Governor Ajimobi came to the Central Mosque sometimes last year for Jumat service in company of Alhaji Aminu Tambuwa, Speaker of the House Representatives and promised to immediately embark on the renovation of the Mosque. It was a welcome development and the community thanked him for the good gesture. It is over eight months yet the promise is not redeemed.“Fortunately for the community, Senator Teslim Folarin of the PDP came, promised and began renovation works immediately on the community Mosque.”
Alhaji Bashir further added that to their utmost disappointment, some group of young men led by the Caretaker Committee Chairman of Ibadan North Local Government came to the community and asked the workers to stop, while promising to start the work their principal promised many months ago.
He said the renovation works is being done to date by Senator Folarin and not Governor Ajimobi as some people claimed.
“It is not fair to take the glory of one and give it to another,” he concluded.
