An accused standing trial for conspiracy, kidnapping and armed robbery before an Abakaliki Magistrates’ Court, Jesse Onyeukwu, has reportedly escaped custody. Onyeukwu, 26, had claimed being pressed by nature and pleaded that he should be escorted to a convenience room to ease himself during court session.
A prison official, who brought him to the court, was thereafter assigned to escort him. As he was being escorted, he walked towards the fence and jumped into the bush and disappeared on a sand-by motorcycle.
