The Nigerian Army has hoisted the national flag in the recently liberated town of Gamboru Ngala, Borno State, thereby reasserting the authority of the state over the town.
Gamboru Ngala had, until a few days ago, been under the control of Boko Haram fighters, who have now come under renewed offensive by the Nigerian military.
In a text message to New Telegraph on Monday, the Acting Director of Army Public Relations (DAPR), Colonel Sani Usman, said the Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lieutenant General Tukur Buratai, was still in Gamboru Ngala with the troops.
President Muhammadu Buhari had given the military a timeline of three months, to end the Boko Haram insurgency in the North East.
