Donna Shalala, the former Cabinet Secretary of the Clinton administration, suffered a horrifying stroke after a meeting of the Clinton Global Initiative on September 29. Initial reports on her status are ‘encouraging.’

Donna Shalala, 74, the former Cabinet Secretary for the Bill Clinton administration,

and the president and CEO of the Clinton Foundation, suffered a stroke on Tuesday, September 29 in NYC, according to a statement from Bill and Chelsea Clinton. Though the incident was terrifying, she is expected to be well.

Donna had just completed a meeting with the Clinton Global Initiative, a spinoff of the Clinton Foundation in NYC, when she endured the stroke, according to the Clintons’ statement. “Fortunately, she was with colleagues at the time,” the statement said of Donna, who was immediately rushed to the hospital. “Initial reports [on her health] are very encouraging.”
