Oliseh brings high level of professionalism into the team – Musa

Super Eagles winger, Ahmed Musa, said that Coach Sunday Oliseh had brought high level of professionalism into the team and had shown the capacity to take the national team to the next level. Musa who was the standin captain in Eagles’ last two matches against Tanzania and Niger, said having worked closely with the coach for about one week, he was convinced Oliseh was the right man for the job.

He says that the coach discusses tactics and strategy with his players in a robust way and usually demonstrate the knowledge by getting involved in training. He said: “I have a lot of respect for the coach because of the new things he has brought into the team. He will not only tell us what to do, he also show us the practical aspect of it. He joins us in training sessions as well.
“He has been like a father figure to us all. He spoke to us about the importance of unity in the team, stressing that a divided team cannot go anywhere. We were unlucky not to have won in Tanzania but if you look at the game again, we fought for one another.” The CSKA Moscow striker is adamant the Eagles will qualify for the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations despite trailing Egypt by two points in Group G of the series.

The player said although the fears expressed by Nigerians over the chances of the team had basis, Eagles would work hard to qualify for the biennial competition in Gabon. “We did not get the desired result in Tanzania but we can pick maximum points in our other matches. The players understand that we have to work harder and be more cautious in the remaining games so that we can get the results. I am confident we will qualify for the Nations Cup,” he said.
