While no one in the band has spoken out about the real reasons why they’re calling it quits, Harry Styles‘ close friend, Nick Grimshaw, 31, is finally shedding some light on why we might be seeing the end of the world’s most popular boy band.
Nick, who is best know as a DJ on Radio 1 in Britain and is a close friend of Harry’s, finally spoke out about why they needed some time away from each other. “People think being a pop star is glamorous, but it’s exhausting and disorienting at their level. They don’t see the world — they just do press in different cities. They’re men now, and need to experience some actual life,” he told The Guardian. “Everyone takes breaks. Katy Perry’s off at the moment. No one’s crying.” We remember the flood of tears when Zayn Malik left the group, so we can only imagine how bad things will be once all the boys split up.
Of course, other reports indicate that it’s really Harry who has been the driving force in 1D breaking up in the first place. The British heartthrob has reportedly been trying to break away from his cohorts for months now in order to finally pursue his solo career, according to In Touch magazine. “[Harry] has been a driving force on the boys splitting,” a 1D insider recently told the publication. “Harry’s career couldn’t be hotter right now,” the source added. “He’s been besieged with movie offers. Waiting any longer could kill the opportunity. Harry knows that leaving on top is the best way to launch the next step of his career.” Whatever the reason, we are so sad to think that we may only be getting one more One Direction album.
