10 Boko Haram members arrested in Jigawa

Nigerian Army operatives have arraigned 10 suspected Boko Haram members moving thousands of litres of fuel to Sambisa from Jigawa state.

Channels reports that they were arrested at the late hours of October 15, Thursday, while trying to cross from Jigawa to Yobe state.

The insurgents were arrested with 40 jerry cans full of 33,000 litres of fuel suspected to be transported to the Sambisa forest, notorious hideout of militants.

Brig. Gen. Hamisu Hassan the commander of the 3 Brigade Nigeria Army Kano, paraded the suspects in Birniwa local government area of the state.

He said the suspects were arrested at a filling station near Jigawa-Yobe boarder axis with extra 180 empty jerry cans.

Hassan added that a fuel tanker with registration number Kano WDL 270 SL and a Jeep with registration number Lagos AQ 432 AAA were captured from the suspects, some of whom are from the neighbouring Niger Republic.

The terrorists will be taken to the appropriate authorities.

President Muhammadu Buhari, who has given the military three-month deadline for the eradicating of the insurgency, said in today’s interview to Al-Jazeera that he would instead be “determined to stay on and fight it out”.

The army on its part said that Nigeria prepares for the final battle against insurgency.
