Atletico Madrid are calm over Diego Simeone’s future as the Coach is under a long-term contract and the club’s development has been agreed with his input.
Cholo has of late been linked with Chelsea, who are struggling under Jose Mourinho and reports from England claimed the Blues would pay the €20m needed to get Simeone out of his Atletico contract.
But AS reports Atletico aren’t concerned by the gossip – and indeed, in a roundabout way welcome it, as it means the club is successful under Cholo.
His contract runs until 2020 and Simeone has a close and fruitful relationship with chief executive Miguel Angel Gil, who only yesterday was at the training ground.
Simeone has also publically insisted he will remain at Vicente Calderon as he builds a new team and will in January have River Plate’s Matias Kranevitter among his options, a player he specifically requested and Atletico delivered.
