Helen Paul opens up on Gordons controversy

Following an altercation that ensued between colleagues Helen Paul and Gordons on stage at the AY Live show in Port Harcourt, the comedienne has come out to explain what actually happened.

During her performance at the show, Tatafo, as Helen is fondly called, taunted fellow comedians like Ali Baba, Gordons and I Go Dye.

When it came Gordons turn to perform, he fired back at Helen, prompting the petite comedienne’s return on stage and what sounded like not-so-friendly verbal jabs thrown by both comedians.

AY, the host of the show, intervened by carrying Helen off the stage. He then came back to chase Gordons around the stage and finally declare that Gordons had been “banned” from subsequent editions of “AY Live.”

However, in an exclusive chat with Naij.com, Helen Paul described the whole drama as part of the jokes meant to add spice to the colourful event.

She said: “Bros Gordons is not just my colleague; he is my big brother o. Our priority at the event was to provoke laughter from the audience, and that was exactly what we did. Honestly, there is no more to it. All of us still played together backstage before leaving the event venue.

“I also talked about Ali Baba on that stage, and he was still at the convocation ceremony of my theatre academy on Friday. Ali Baba is a father to all of us, so it is impossible for me to insult him, but he understands that what we did was just meant to entertain the audience. This is not the first time that comedians make jokes about themselves on stage. We were just having fun, so people should not attach any string to it.”

Helen had made jokes about her male colleagues’ physical appearance, delivery and outfits.
