Presidency receives EU report on 2015 elections


Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, yesterday received the final report of the European Union, EU Observer mission to the2015 presidential election. He promised that the government was prepared to put in place modalities for better, free and credible elections in the country. The Vice President said that it was the duty of the President Muhammadu Buhari’s administration to guarantee free and fair elections.

Osinbajo received the report on behalf of the Federal Government. Chief Observer, Mr. Santiago Fisas, led the delegation to submit the report at the presidential villa, Abuja. Speaking at the brief ceremony, the Vice President said: “It is our duty to ensure that the electoral system guarantees free and fair elections, where the opposition can win if voted for by the people.”

While thanking the EU for participating actively throughout the electoral process of the country before, during and after the polls, and making useful recommendations that could improve the process, Professor Osinbajo gave the assurance that the Federal Government would study and consider the recommendations as soon as possible.
