Following the Senate inability to undertake the screening process of Rotimi Amaechi, the former governor of Rivers state, Sahara Reporters has disclosed the real reason for the postponement of the clearing.
The screening of the former governor has been shifted twice, the second time because the Senate committee on ethics, privileges, and public petitions was powerless to submit a full report on the exceptional petitions against the appointee.
There were also other suppositions that there is a court directive against Amaechi from Port Harcourt, the capital of Rivers state, from incumbent governor Nyesome Wike.
However, an assistant of Amaechi discharged the existence of such an order, saying: “Nobody has seen any court order. It is rumored but no one has seen it.”
He also accepted that, meanwhile, that “the matter allegations of corruption by governor Wike is in court,” and “preventing the Senate from entertaining petitions” against him.
Some insiders within the APC say that governor Wike has been corrupting the lawmakers to protest Amaechi’s appointment as a minister.
The source claims that, as a result of governor Wike’s attempts, the screening of the former governor continues to be shifted from fear that his effort at getting screened successfully might be dissatisfied.
Another reason is due to growing opposition against Amaechi within the ranks of the ruling party.
At the same time Nigerians can’t wait for the screening of the popular governor:
