President Muhammadu Buhari yesterday expressed worry over the increase at the rate in which cases of sabotaging government’s efforts at providing infrastructure are being pursued in the country. Also, the President declared that his emergence as Nigerian President was made possible through transparent electoral process ensured by advanced technological innovations provided by engineers in the country.
The President, who was represented at the Nigerian Society of Engineers (NSE) annual conference and meeting by the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Engr. Babacha Lawal, urged engineers to adequately address issues relating to protection and maintenance of infrastructures in the country.
The President urged the NSE and other relevant regulatory bodies to continue to instil professional integrity in the practice of engineering in Nigeria just as he said that engineers by virtue of their profession are responsible for building world class infrastructures in the country On his emergency as President of the country, Buhari said the card readers which were deployed by Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) made the election that produced him as President credible.
He stressed that the achievements of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in the conduct of the last general elections were results of the commitment of Nigerian Engineers to transparent electoral process.
