A security guard has allegedly conspired with two others to murder a 25-year-old final year student of Civil Engineering at the Federal Polytechnic, Nekede, Owerri, Imo State, Mr Innocent Ndukwe. The state Commissioner of Police, Mr Taiwo Lakanu, said after slaughtering their victim, the suspects made away with his Pathfinder Sport Utility Vehicle (SUV) with registration number KRD 109 AD, two Plasma television sets, one ‘Home Theatre’ and assorted personal effects.
Lakanu, who disclosed this while parading the suspects at the police command headquarters, Owerri, said the police control room, following a report of the gory incident, quickly alerted
operatives of the command, who immediately spread their dragnet across the entire state.
He said: “As a result, the assailants, who tried to escape the eagle-eyed operatives, were subsequently apprehended on West-End old Nekede Road, Owerri.”
The commissioner said that the late Innocent Ndukwe was found in a pool of his own blood in a toilet at his residence at No. 18, Enuwa Street, Egbu in Owerri North Local Government Area of the state.
Kwaguru conspired with two of his kinsmen from Plateau State. While the late Onwukwe was in his bathroom, the three men broke into the bathroom, attacked the deceased with daggers and hacked him to death.
Lakanu disclosed that his directive to Area Commanders, DPOs, HODs and other high ranking officers to give their phone numbers to members of the public for effective communication and intelligencegathering had continued to yield fruits and had assisted the police in arresting the suspects.
He, therefore, appealed to the public to always be vigilant and circumspect in choosing the people they employ as security guards.
