Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Professor Mahmud Yakubu yesterday gave the assurance that the electoral body is ready for the Kogi and Bayelsa states gubernatorial elections.
Speaking at the inaugural meeting of the House of Representatives committee on Electoral Matters and Political Affairs in Abuja, the INEC helmsman said the commission was committed to what people decide in elections.
He said that a standard has been set by the Immediate past chairman of INEC, Prof. Attahiru Jega adding that more would be done under his stewardship of the electoral body.
He said that all security agencies are not ensure that the elections hold in a peaceful atmosphere stating that the army would not be part of the efforts of these agencies.
