Ondo Police initiate peace between farmers, Fulani herdsmen

Worried by the incessant clashes between farmers and Fulani herdsmen in different parts of the state, the Ondo State Police command has initiated a peace meeting between the two sides.

The meeting, which held at the instance of the Commissioner of Police, Mr Mike Ogbodu, was with a view to ensuring a harmonious coexistence between the warring groups in the state.

The clash between former Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Chief Olu Falae and Fulani herdsmen, was suspected to have led to his recent abduction.

Ogbodu, who played host to the President and executive members of the Miyatti Allah stressed the need for a cordial relationship to exist between the farmers and Fulani herdsmen in all parts of the state for peace to reign.

He said the visit by the leadership of Miyatti Allah would further enhance cordial relationship between the state Police command and the security outfit, which would in turn result in proper security of lives and properties in the state.

Ogbodu, who hailed the co-operation of all the security outfits in the state, said Policing could not only be done by security operatives alone and urged all individuals to support the Police to ensure thorough security of lives and properties.
