The Publisher and Editor-in-Chief of Community Watchdog Newspapers Owerri, Comrade Precious Nwadike has made good his resolve to seek redress against those who invaded his office, handcuffed him and dragged him to an Owerri Magistrate Court over a publication made by the media house.
In a suit No. HOW/41/2016, filed at the Owerri High Court, presided over by the Chief Judge of the state, Nwadike is demanding the sum of N300million as damages for abuse of his rights, invasion of his office and attendant humiliation at the hands of security personnel under the instructions of the State Commissioner of Police, Mr. Lakanu.
Joined in the suit are the Attorney General (AG) of Imo State, the Chief of Staff to the governor, Uche Nwosu, who presided over the committee on the disbursement of N26.8billion bailout fund obtained by the state.
In a statement signed by Nwadike and made available to newsmen, Watchdog Newspapers publisher noted that the offending publication followed the discovery that several months after Governor Rochas Okorocha had publicly acknowledged receipt of the N26.8billion, and appointed his son-in-law, Uche Nwosu as Chairman of a disbursement committee, that several civil servants and staff of government parastatals and pensioners were not paid.
