Nasarawa State Governor, Tanko al-Makura, has ordered the sacking of a state counsel a ln the justice ministry, Ruqqayat Tijjani Usman, over two Facebook posts deemed critical of the state government.
Usman, who posted her sack letter on Twitter on Friday, said she was summoned by the governor to explain two Facebook posts in which she asked government to explain its strategies against Lassa fever after the death of a nurse, Oshafu Ibrahim.
She urged the state government to tell the people how it was combating the scourge.
However, she was summoned to the governor’s office and issued a sack letter shortly after.
The February 25, 2025 letter titled ‘Termination of Appointment,’ was signed by the Permanent Secretary, Nasarawa State Civil Service Commission, Daniel Agyemo, on behalf of the acting chairman.
The letter, with reference no. NCSC/S/DIS/015/Vol. 1/77, did not give reasons for the action.
