Presidency: Funds Recovered From Looters Will First Be Presented In Court

The Presidency over the weekend stated that it would first present in court the funds recovered from looters of the country’s treasury as exhibits, before making it public.
The Senior Special Assistant on Media and Publicity to President Muhammadu Buhari, Malam Garba Shehu stated this in a media chat with journalists in Abuja.
Shehu also reiterated the commitment of the present administration to re-position the country in all facets.
According to the Senior Special Assistant, the monies that have been recovered from the corrupt persons would be presented in the courts as exhibits before making them public.
He said: “The issue of how much has been collected and the publication in all of this is that money retrieved is money to be used as evidence in court, which means the President said two things; we will recover and we will prosecute. So as it is now, you don’t go and bring all these millions returned but I am aware that there is an account in the CBN where some of this funds are been put in but there are evidences for the judge to see and not for public display. I think that is the challenge we have at the moment”.
