SW PDP Favours North For National Chairmanship

Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the South West Wednesday agreed with the national secretariat of the party by resolving to retain its National Chairmanship position in the Northern part of the country with the aim to brighten the chances of the party in the 2019 elections.‎
Among the members and chieftains of the party who met in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital were leaders from Osun, Lagos, Ekiti, Ondo, Oyo and Ogun States, including Senator Buruji Kashamu, Chairman, Organisation and Mobilization Committee, Olisa Metuh, National Publicity Secretary of the party,Teslim Folarin, former Senate Leader, Senator Ayo Adeseun who represented Oyo Central in the previous National Assembly, Alhaji Tajudeen Oladipo, former South West leader, National Auditor, Prince Adewole Adeyanju, Mrs Aduke Maina, Lagos State, Chief Makanjuola Ogundipe, National Vice Chairman, South West, Abdulahi Inai Basira and many others.
In a statement signed by Senator Buruji, he said, leaders from the zone wanted the party to avoid the risk of shrinking into a regional party because of the deadline in the electoral fortunes of the party in the North.‎
“A North that is further weakened by being denied the position of the national chairman of the party will feel marginalised; reconciling further a disillusioned North will be an arduous task for a party in opposition.
“The lack of co-operation in the South West zone will constitute a challenge to the national chairman from the region. We, the people of the South West are good at petition writing and pull-him-down syndrome tactics”.
