Ajimobi Signs Death Penalty Law For Kidnapping

Governor Abiola Ajimobi of Oyo State has signed into law the bill which prescribes the death‎ sentence for any person found guilty of kidnapping if the victim eventually dies in captivity.
Similarly, ‎any kidnapper risks life imprisonment if his victim had paid ransom but is rescued unhurt. Nevertheless, he will in addition to life imprisonment punishment pay back the ransom to the victim.
These were part of the conditions attached to the bill which was passed a few weeks ago by the State House of Assembly , but only assented to on Friday by the governor, according to his Special Adviser on Communication and Strategy, Mr. Yomi Layinka.
