The unrest in Congo-Brazzaville’s capital broke out just hours after global superstars including Akon and Nigeria’s Wizkid had performed at a free concert to promote peace in the country.
There has been some criticism for the artists for performing at concert at the invitation of veteran leader Denis Sassou Nguesso, whose re-election by a landslide in elections last month sparked protests, reports the BBC.
One local news website has mocked the artists by posting photos which it says are of this morning’s protests alongside a special t-shirt designed for last night’s “Concert For Peace”
