Both sides of Lagos-Ibadan Expressway were grounded on both sides on Thursday morning after a petrol tanker slammed into a truck conveying diesel at Aseese in Ogun State.
The impact caused fuel to gush from the petrol tanker.
Many motorists and petrol tankers were trapped in the gridlock as soldiers, policemen, road safety and fire officials tried to contain the situation. Vehicles were diverted from the Expressway to bush paths.
