Buhari Returns After One Week In China


President Muhammadu Buhari on Saturday returned to Abuja after his one-week working visit to the People’s Republic of China.

He was received on arrival at the Presidential Wing of the Nnamdi Azikwe International Airport, Abuja by some top government officials.

Those who received the President included his Chief of Staff, Abba Kyari; and the Inspector-General of Police, Solomon Arase.

Buhari was accompanied on the trip by a number of state governors and ministers.

They included the governors of Ogun, Oyo, Kaduna, Benue, and Yobe as well as the Ministers of Agriculture; Water Resources; Transportation; Defence; Power, Works and Housing; Industry, Trade and Investment; Federal Capital Territory; Science and Technology and Foreign Affairs.

The Presidency had indicated that the President’s working visit to China which started last Sunday was aimed at securing greater support from Beijing for the development of Nigeria’s infrastructure.

It mentioned specific sectors such as power, roads, railways, aviation, water supply and housing as those that would receive special attention during the visit.

At the conclusion of the visit on Friday, Buhari expressed satisfaction that had yielded over $6bn additional investments for Nigeria.

The Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Publicity, Garba Shehu, disclosed this in a statement made available to journalists.

Shehu said the President believed that the agreements concluded with the Chinese during the visit would have a huge and positive impact on key sectors of the Nigerian economy including power, solid minerals, agriculture, housing and rail transportation.
