The arrest and detention of a lawmaker of the Ekiti State House of Assembly, Hon. Afolabi Akanni, by the Department of State Services (DSS) has been declared as ‘illegal and barbaric’, by a Federal High Court sitting in Ado Ekiti.
Akanni was arrested and detained for several days by the DSS.
But a Federal High Court sitting in Ado Ekiti has said the detention was illegal.
The court, presided over by Justice Taiwo Taiwo, has asked the DSS to pay Akanni N5 million for detaining him, reports theeagleonline.
