DHQ Establishes Rehab Camp For Repentant Boko Haram Fighters


The Defence Headquarters (DHQ), has announced the establishment of a camp aimed at rehabilitating and re-integrating Boko Haram suspects, who surrendered to the supremacy of the state.
In a statement signed by the Acting Director of Defence Information (DDI), Brigadier-General Rabe Abubakar, the DHQ said the exercised known as Operation Safe Corridor, is to take the repentant insurgents through vocational training, in a bid to reintegrate them into the society.
“In line with the Federal Government’s commitment to the war against insurgency in the North East and in furtherance of its efforts to rehabilitate and reintegrate surrendered and repentant Boko Haram terrorist members, the Defence Headquarters has established rehabilitation camp in an Exercise known as Operation SAFE CORRIDOR.
“The main focus of Operation SAFE CORRIDOR is geared towards rehabilitating and reintegrating the repentant and the surrendering Boko Haram members back into normal life in the society. The repentant terrorists in the camp would be taken through various vocational training so that they could be useful to themselves and be empowered to contribute meaningfully to the economic growth of their fatherland,” the statement said.
The DHQ appealed to other fighters, who were yet to lay down their arms “to repent today and benefit from numerous opportunities offered by the camp.”
