DPO Didn’t Beat Traffic Warden, Say Witnesses

Witnesses have denied alleged attack on a female traffic officer, Anifat Bello, on duty on IBB Boulevard Way, Abeokuta, Ogun State by the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) in charge of Ikene Division, SP Patrick Onwu.

Those who claimed to have witnessed the incident on Suin-Kopagbe-Shagamu Expressway described what happened between the two police officers as nothing more than a ‘shouting match’.

One of them, who gave his name as Jubril Akeem, said there was nothing like a fight between the two police officers. He said: “The woman traffic police officer had challenged the policeman who drove into the NNPC filling station for disobeying her.”

According to Akeem, the man apologised by saying “I am sorry madam; I didn’t mean to disobey you. It is just that I am in a hurry for the CP’s briefing.” The witness said the man identified himself as the DPO Ikene Division.

“But the woman did not border to listen to him; she bent over the policeman’s car and started copying the car’s registration number and the man’s name on his uniform. It was at this time, the policeman shove her aside, entered his vehicle and zoomed off,” Akeem added. Another witness, Mr. Kayode Atanda, also claimed that there was nothing like a fight.
