INEC Holds FCT Rerun Elections On Wednesday

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has fixed Wednesday, April 13 for rerun elections in 39 polling units in Abuja, the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) where last Saturday’s elections were declared inconclusive.
The commission had declared the election inconclusive in four Area Councils of Abuja Municipal Area Council (AMAC), Gwagwalada, Kuje and Abaji as a result of electoral malpractices that led to cancellation of some results.
In a statement on Monday by the Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC), Professor Jacob Jatau, INEC said the “results in the affected polling units were cancelled for reasons ranging from violence, over voting and non-use of Smart Card Readers for accredrlation of voters.”
‎It said the rerun polls would hold in 20 Registration Areas (RAs) of the territory, and reminded eligible voters in the affected polling units that accreditation and voting would begin simultaneously from 8 am to 2pm.
