A joint clearance operation carried out by troops of 152, 155 Task Force Battalions and their Cameroonian counterparts from the Multinational Joint Task Force (MNJTF), has resulted in the killing of 22 Boko Haram suspects, and the arrest of three commanders (Ameers).
The Army, which made the disclosure in a statement signed by its spokesman, Col. Sani Usman, gave the names of the apprehended commanders as: Lawal Abba, Mallam Hisna and Mallam Gana. They were arrested separately in Shatte, Bulla Jaja and Bula Burra.
It further disclosed that the Monday operation, which swept through the Nigeria-Cameroon borders, also led to the rescue of 1, 275 people held hostage by the fighters.
Those rescued are being profiled by 152 Task Force Battalion, pending their movement to Internally Displaced Persons (IDP) camps.
