PDP Rally Claims One, Injures Five In Jigawa


At least one person has been confirmed dead while five others are now receiving treatment at the Rasheed Shekoni Specialist Hospital, Dutse, capital of Jigawa State, as a result of injuries sustained during a political clash between members of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) and the People’s Democratic Party (PDP).

New Telegraph learnt that the clash occurred when some members of the APC said to have assembled at Zai Quarters, chanting the slogan “Bamayi” meaning we despise PDP and the party had been buried alive. Consequently, the development was said to have irked the PDP supporters, resulted to clashes which led to the loss of one life, while five people were injured.

Confirming the incident, the state Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Abdul Jinjiri, said, shortly after PDP political meeting, the police received a report of attack of one Samaila Isyaku at Zai Quarters. He said as they arrived at the scene and the victims were rushed to hospital, where one of them was confirmed dead as a result of injuries he sustained.
