Super Eagles rose from a meeting after Nigeria’s ouster from the Gabon 2017 Nations Cup and agreed that Coach Samson Siasia was the best for the team for now.
The players expressed delight at the matured approach and the mutual respect Siasia brought into the camp along with other technical crew members- Emmanuel Amuneke, Salisu Yusuf and Alloy Agu. One of the players revealed to our correspondent that new skipper of the team, Mikel Obi, had been told to meet with the NFF over the position of the players.
“We want coach Siasia and others to stay because the camp was really interesting for everyone. We believe the combination of the coaching crew will help in the transition of young players from the 2015 Golden Eaglets, the 2015 Flying Eagles and the current U-23 Eagles to the Super Eagles thereby building a stronger and formidable team.
“Again, we enjoyed our football under this crew and we are optimistic of getting better results with time together,” the defender told our correspondent. The players are also scared that changing the crew at this time could affect the flow of the team and pose a danger to the chances of Nigeria picking a ticket to the Russia 2018 World Cup.
