Police have arrested two suspected rustlers for stealing 106 cows in different locations in Awe Local Government Area of Nasarawa State. The suspects, Ibrahim Hassan (25) and Sunusi Maikudi (20), were among 20 others arrested for various criminal offenses and paraded on Monday at the command headquarters, Lafia.
The state Police Commissioner, Lawal Shehu, said the suspects were arrested by men of the anti-robbery squad of the command following a tip-off. Shehu said the suspected rustlers were arrested at Hunkii, a settlement in Awe Local Government Area with 106 cows and 20 sheep.
Items recovered from the rustlers, according to the commissioner, included two AK47 rifles, one AK49 rifle, 127 rounds of live ammunition, two sets of military uniform, two face masks, 11 handsets, two unregistered motorcycles, charms and two machetes.
Also paraded were four suspected robbers who specialised in robbing motorists and passengers of their valuables on Jos- Akwanga Road. The police boss said 30 SIM cards, two handsets, two machetes, one iron cutter and 15 pieces of women wrapper valued at N90,000 were recovered from them.
