Screen goddess Yvonne Okoro has gone out of her way to ensure that the people of a village called Wunge in Walewale of the Northern region in Ghana have portable water supply. She was stunned when she realized that the locals can walk as far as three kilometers everyday in search of water especially the kids and women.
Yvonne said that it was touching for her and she has found something to make sure that their suffering ends. “Every year I set aside a percentage of what I earn and use it to thank God for how far he has brought me. We need to appreciate and be content with what we have because the condition of others is worse. I wish I can do more, and I’ll like to take this opportunity to call on others including organisations and the business community to come to the aid of the poor,”
She added: “In whichever way you can help the community you should reach out and help. There are times that the smallest amount goes a long way to help society. Imagine all your life without a potable water. This is affecting students. People must see and reach out to people in need. Let’s show love. Touch a life and touch something because it goes a long way and reduces their stress.”
