Vice President, Professor Yemi Osinbajo (SAN), Monday lamented the rate of corruption in the country and the extent to which it has negatively affected the socio-economic situation of the country, disclosing that a total of $15 billion, which is half of the current reserves of the country, has been lost to the menace.
The VP was the Special Guest of honour at the 50th anniversary of the “House of Lords, Nigeria”, and the presentation of a book entitled: “Nigeria: The Challenges of Growth and Development (In depth analysis by experts), which held at the Trenchard Hall of the University of Ibadan.
Osinbajo said that the country could not sustain the public sector corruption, lamenting that far too much had been lost in the economy due to the corrupt activities of many Nigerians, especially in the Army.
Harping on the anti-corruption drive of the Muhammadu Buhari’s administration, the VP threatened that “those found to be corrupt will not only disgorge them but will be sanctioned according to the law. No public officer found to be corrupt will go unpunished”.
