38 Convicted For Traffic Offences

A mobile court set up by the Federal Road Safety Commission (FRSC) Tollgate Unit in Edo State yesterday convicted 38 motorists for violation of various traffic offences on the Oloku-Lagos Expressway, Benin. The magistrate, Mrs. Franca Ogboatorm sentenced the motorists to various jail terms ranging from one day to seven days.

The exercise was part of the FRSC May edition of its mobile court patrols held on the tollgate unit premises. The prosecutor, Mr. Presley Orhue, said the offenses included passengers manifest and driver licence violations.

Orhue said the court had found the 38 motorists guilty and were arraigned in the process. Ogboator ordered the convicts pay an option of between N2,000 and N50,000 as fine and asked them to ensure compliance with traffic laws.
