ASUU Elects New National President

A new National President of the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU), the body of lecturers in the universities across the federation, has emerged.

He is the immediate past Vice-President of the union and lecturer at the Department of Curriculum Studies and Instructional Technology, Olabisi Onabanjo University (OOU), Ago Iwoye, Prof. Biodun Ogunyemi.

Ogunyemi was elected early Monday morning at the just concluded National Delegates’ Conference of the union, which held at the University of Uyo, Akwa-Ibom State.

Ogunyemi took over from Dr. Nasir Isa Fagge of the Bayero University, Kano.

It would be recalled that New Telegraph had exclusively reported that the new president of the union may emerge from the south western part of the country, with the last three presidents produced by the north and south east regions.
