The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has slammed Nigeria with a fine over two offences committed during an AFCON qualifier against Egypt in Kaduna in March.
CAF found Nigeria culpable of not providing adequate security at the Ahamdu Bello Stadium and the country was also guilty of spectators over packed at the same venue.
Recall that on March 29, the NFF, in partnership with the Kaduna State Government threw the gates to the Ahmadu Bello Stadium in Kaduna thus leading to over 50, 000 spectators cramming into the 15, 000-capacity stadium.
There were ugly scenes of fans clinging to the flood lights, scoreboard and the camera stands in the stadium.
Disappointingly, the game ended in a 1-1 draw with Mohammed Salah scoring a late equaliser for the Pharaohs and having failed to win the return leg in Alexandria the hopes of a place at the next Cup of Nations in Gabon for Nigeria was effectively extinguished.
