Fulani herdsmen Have Been ‘Squeezed’, Have Right To Self-Defence – Miyeti Allah


The umbrella-body of Fulani herdsmen in Nigeria, the Miyeti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria, has said that the quest by its members to survive outside their territory, having been “squeezed”, was largely responsible for the incessant clashes with farmers in some parts of the country.

This position is coming the recent killings in some parts of the country by suspected Fulani herdsmen, the latest being the attack on Nimbo, Uzo-Uwani community in Enugu State, which left over 30 dead, and many injured.

The National Chairman of the Miyeti Allah group, Senator Dagiri Alkali, canvassed the argument Wednesday in Abuja, when he led a delegation to the Defence Headquarters (DHQ).

Alkali, who noted that “self-defence was an art in military profession”, further alluded to the fact that these incessant clashes would not be there, were there still grazing reserves for cattle in the country.
