A 28-year-old security man Suleiman Aliyu Saturday lost his life as fire gutted a building in Lagos and destroyed properties worth millions of naira.
The tragic incident, which occurred at 15, Obiwunmi Street Fola Agoro in Shomolu, razed properties in the building containing 12 flats.
Eyewitness account revealed that the inferno emanated from the security post and spread to the other side of the building.
Investigation conducted by the emergency agencies also revealed that petroleum products were stored in his apartment, which came in contact with other highly combustible items.
Speaking on the development, the General Manager of the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA), Mr. Michael Akindele, said that the quick intervention the agency, the Lagos Fire Services, Nigerian Police Force, Fola Agoro Division, prevented the fire from spreading to other buildings around.
He added that the remains of the victim have been released to the victim’s family for proper burial as requested.
