One Dead, Three Injured In Ebonyi Cult Clash

One person was at the weekend stabbed to death and three others seriously injured at Omakaejali drinking joint in Afikpo North Local Government Area of Ebonyi State following a misunderstanding between two rival cult groups in the area – black axe and Aiye confraternities.
The clash was between one Chukwuemeka Ewa Oko and Christopher Ogbonnia Egwu, the dead victim.

Trouble started when Oko confronted Egwu at the drinking joint and ordered him to leave the joint or have himself to blame for allegedly challenging his group which Egwu refused to leave and warned him to be mindful of his words.
An eyewitness, Okoche Eze told ‘New Telegraph’ that in anger, Oko broke a bottle of Orijin beer he was drinking and used the dagger-like part of the bottle and stabbed Egwu on the stomach.
He noted that the victim was immediately rushed to the Federal Teaching Hospital, Abakaliki (FETHA) where he was confirmed dead.
He added that the victim’s group went on reprisal attack and seriously injured three members of the suspect’s cult group.
When contacted, the state Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), ASP George Okafor confirmed the incident.
