Two tenants, who allegedly beat up one of their neighbours over electricity bill, were on Thursday charged before an Ikeja Chief Magistrates’ Court.
The accused are Ebuka Udem and Kafayat Ogunbisi.
They are facing a three-count charge of threatening violence, assault and causing the breach of peace.
The Prosecutor, Insp. Clifford Ogu, told the court that the offences were committed on May 8 at the accused residence.
Ogu said that a fight ensued between the second accused, Ogunbisi, and the complainant over electricity bill, reports the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN).
“The first accused, Udem, joined Ogunbisi in beating up the complainant and pouring water on her body.
“The accused also threatened to pour acid on the complainant face,” he said.
The prosecutor said that the accused contravened sections 56, 166 and 170 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2011.
However, the accused pleaded not guilty.
The Chief Magistrate, Mrs Taiwo Akanni, granted each of the accused N50,000 bail with one surety each in like sum.
Akanni adjourned the case to June 6 for mention.
