Manchester City had their best run in the UEFA Champions League with a semifinal appearance this season. The team under Manuel Pellegrini only took a bow on Wednesday at the Bernabeu after losing 1-0 to Real Madrid.
He is second on the goals chart behind Tottenham’s Harry Kane, who has recorded 25 goals. Arsenal are the visitors to the Ethiad Stadium on Sunday against a wounded Man City team. Pellegrini will bank on the Argentine forward to grab the three points and boost their chances of finishing in Top Four.
Aguero will be all out for a win in this encounter because he needs more goals to battle Kane for the highest scorers’ award and to also help his team overtake Arsenal on the ladder. With 64 points and a better goal difference, City need only a win to move to the third position. Arsenal currently have 67 points. Meanwhile, two Nigerian teenagers will play against one another in this encounter.
Alex Iwobi will be in Arsenal’s colours against Kelechi Iheanacho, who is having a great season with City. Last weekend, Iheanacho scored two goals in the 4-2 defeat suffered against Southampton. Pellegrini has so much fate in the Nigerian who has scored seven EPL goals and 13 in all competitions.
“Iheanacho is a very talented player. He has a bright future,” Pellegrini said. If Iheanacho did not start this match, he is expected to come in at some point to boost the team’s chances of getting a win against a team that had upper hand against them in the past two seasons. The Arsene Wenger team is yet to lose to City after the 6-3 defeat at Etihad on December 14, 2013.
