PVCs: After Elections, What Next?

One document that virtually every Nigerian adult now has is a Permanent Voters Card (PVC). The card which will be used for the forthcoming election is now an asset to many.

Though designed to enable the holder to participate in the election process, Nigerians are already hoping that the cards will be useful beyond the elections.
While some believe the card may be requested as ID in future, especially for those that have business to transact with government agencies, a sizeable number of Nigerians, especially bank customers, are seeing the cards as alternatives to other forms of identification.
This is because in the past, banks have requested the temporary voters card as a form of identification. It is also worthy to note that the PVC is the one credible data base of Nigerians and can be employed by government for such exercises like the National ID card scheme, census, job opportunities, empowerment programmes, etc.
Nigerian Tribune in this comprehensive report digs deep into the issue and projects how the PVC may be important for Nigerians after the elections.

Meanwhile, economic experts in Nigeria have predicted that bonds will rise this week because of the upcoming general elections.
