AIG orders police to support Buhari’s anti-corruption war

An Assistant Inspector- General of Police (AIG), Mr John Caulcrick, has called on senior police officers as well as the rank and file to support President Mohammed Buhari’s anti-corruption crusade. Caulcrick, who headed the Maritime Command until last week, said the police should see itself as agent of change for the effective implementation of the anti-corruption agenda.

The AIG spoke at a function organised by officers of the maritime and staff of the Force Education Department in Lagos.
While commending the chairman and members of the Police Service Commission (PSC), over the elevation of the Oyo State Commissioner of Police, Mr Adeleye Oyebade, as substantive Commissioner of Police, Caulcrick said that the police must be at the front burner in anticorruption programmes.

Caulcrick, a Christian cleric, said with the fear of God in the minds of fellow top police officers, their subordinates, when given a sense of belonging, would in no time embrace discipline and anti-corruption culture.

In his speech, Oyebade asked officers and men of the force to police with the fear of God. The Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) in charge of Maritime Police, Mr Adidat Udomoh, described the two officers as men who used to give their subordinates less stress. He called on other police officers to borrow a leaf from Caulcrick and Oyebade’s humility and hard work.
